Baby ABC Soup

Haha, this is NOT another baby food post.

I’m using all baby vege to do this soup, baby tomatoes, baby carrots, baby potatoes and are there baby onions? Nah, I used shallots. If there were baby onions, I’d use them.

My Uni coursemate, Candy taught me to use shallots in this soup, so that they'll look like little huge pearls in the soup. Thanks, Candy!!!

250gm chicken breast meat, cubed
250gm baby potatoes, peeled
250gm baby carrots, rinsed
250gm cherry tomatoes, tops trimmed
125gm shallots, peeled
2.5L water
Salt and pepper to taste

Bring water to a boil and put in everything. Bring back to a boil and let it simmer on low heat for 2 hours.
Season with salt and pepper, and turn off the heat.

***This version taste even better than those using regular sizes vegetables.***

  1. I've never tried using bb veggies in this soup as there are too much peeling but shallots yes, when I ran out of onions ;-)

  2. Zoe,
    thanks

    Blessed Homemaker,
The BB veggies are very nice in this soup. A lot sweeter than the usual version. Not to bad la, only the potatoes need peeling. I don't think you will peel the baby carrots gua..

  4. Wah, baby carrots quite ex leh...but once in a while ok lah...

My ex-housemate at Blue Boy Mansion whose family runs a sundry shop taught me this soup too although she din use all baby ingredients in it. She said usually customers would choose all the big onions and shallots to buy, so her family would eat all those small ones left behind. According to her, actually smaller ones for most of the bulbs would taste better and more fragrant too. I've tried this before and I think it's quite true. The only con is there are more peeling to be done.

  8. HKChoo,
    Thanks

    Meldylocks,
The day when I bought them, I got it for RM2.50 only. Which was why I bought them :)
Eh, this soup is worth all the effort, trust me.

    Jess,
That's the usual method lor. I do that normally do. Unless I'm doing a baby version.

    Elin,
Try this baby version, and see what ur hubby will say. I find Tesco has more baby potatoes than Jusco. Try ur luck there if u're looking for baby potatoes.

    MaryMoh,
    Yeah... soups feel very warming.

  14. I agree with you, I can't find baby potatoes in Jusco and only found them at Tesco. Also, Tesco's baby carrot is cheaper than that of Jusco by a ringgit - I got it at RM3.xx at Jusco since I shopped there first, but no baby potato in sight, I had to try my luck at Tesco.

I tried this, and here it is:
