Chocolate Orange Pancakes with Honey Cream - Pancakes #2

This recipe is a twist off the first recipe featured this week.

My girls love chocolate and I thought if I were to pair it with fruits, as least it won't be too heaty for them.

Chocolate Orange Pancakes with Honey Cream
Recipe source: Wendyywy

110gm cake/superfine flour (can replace with all purpose with 9% protein levels)
15gm cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp sugar
Small pinch of salt

150ml buttermilk
100ml whipping cream
1 large egg
Zest from 1 orange (replace with ½ tsp vanilla extract if using other fruits to serve)

1.      Sift cake flour + baking soda + baking powder together. Mix in sugar and salt. Set aside.
2.      Mix egg with buttermilk, cream and zest of orange.
3.      Pour (2) into (1) and mix until combined but not smooth.
4.      Heat the pan and lightly grease it with oil. Put in 1 heaped Chinese soup spoon of batter into pan. Cover pan with lid (if you have, if not it’s ok) and let it cook on medium low heat.
5.      When the rim of the pancake has cooked (solidified), flip the pancake to cook the other side.
6.      Repeat cooking process until batter is used up.

Honey Cream
50gm honey
100gm whipping cream
Orange segments

Whip cream until thick and beat in honey until soft peaks form. Use immediately, to be served with pancakes together with orange segments.

  1. Just checking, this chocolate version of pancake looks denser than the previous recipe, or is it the brown color effect?

Love the bright color contrast, by the way!

  2. HK Choo,
Not much difference. Maybe very very slightly because whenever anything has fruits cooked in it, the moisture from the fruits makes it more tender.

  3. Thanks for the reply...most likely gonna try both recipes in order to finish up the carton of buttermilk.
